AST Grad named Nova Scotia's Lieutenant-Governor

Halifax, NS - Atlantic School of Theology extends sincere congratulations to one of its alumnae, Ms. Mayann Francis (Certificate in Theological Studies 2003) who has been appointed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper as Nova Scotia's next Lieutenant-Governor. 

Ms. Francis is Director and CEO of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission, a post she has held since 1999. She also served as Ombudsman for Nova Scotia for three years (2000-2003), the first woman to be appointed to that post. Throughout her career, Ms. Mayann has held several senior leadership roles in the public service and has been recognized for her outstanding achievements with numerous awards reflecting her expertise and commitment in the areas of public relations, employee relations, facilitation and project management.

Originally from Whitney Pier, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Ms. Francis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Mary's University and also a Masters Degree in Public Administration from New York University.

AST wishes Mayann Francis continued success in her new role as Nova Scotia's Lieutenant-Governor.
