
Finding Book Reviews
This page discusses the AST Library's resources for finding book reviews. There is no one perfect source for book reviews, so you might have to try a couple of the resources listed below. Many of these sources have links to the online articles while others will give you just a citation to the article in printed journals.
These databases are for registered AST students, faculty, & staff. The general public can only access these databases while at the library. Click on a database name to access the database.
- Religion Database has a significant number of book reviews.
- On the search screen, scroll down the page to Publication Type and click on "review".

- This database presents online reviews of recent books in biblical studies and related fields. It seeks to be comprehensive, international in scope, and timely.
- This resource is free.
Catholic Periodical and Literature Index
- CPLI is good source for journal articles, newspaper articles, and papal documents dealing expressly with the practice of Catholic faith and lifestyle. It also has numerous book reviews.
- Under Publication Type, click on "Book Review".

Other Sources.
Reviews can often be found at online bookstores such as Amazon.ca. Please note that most of those reviews are not written by scholars.
Periodicals specializing in book reviews.
There are has several journals that specialize in book reviews. They can be found by doing a Subject Keyword search of the AST library in Novanet for book reviews periodicals. You can also limit this search to AST. Below is a partial list of such journals at AST
