Library Cards


AST Students and Faculty

The AST ID card functions as a Novanet Library Card. With this, AST students, faculty, and staff can borrow items from any Novanet Library. This includes most academic libraries in Nova Scotia. Your first card is free. A replacement card costs $15.00. Contact the  AST Library Circulation Desk or 902-423-7986 for instructions.

CAUL/ASIN Borrowers Card

The Atlantic Scholarly Information Network (ASIN) borrower's card allows registered AST students, faculty and staff to borrow items when visiting most Canadian university libraries. This is a free card. AST students, faculty, and staff can get their ASIN card from the AST Library Circulation Desk or 902-423-7986. If you belong to another university, you must get your ASIN card from your university library.

AST Alumni

Upon Request, all AST alumni can receive a special Alumni Library Card, which grants Novanet borrowing privileges, at no charge.  The card must be renewed annually. Please ask the library staff for more information.

Off Campus Borrowers (General Public)

Any member of the community may register for a Novanet Off Campus Borrowers Card to access selected library services, such as borrowing books and reference. In addition, this card allows you to borrow from all Novanet Libraries.

Effective September 28, 2009, Nova Scotia residents will be eligible to register for this card at no charge.  They may also return books to AST from other Nova Scotia library systems, such as the public library, due to the Borrow Anywhere Return Anywhere (BARA) program. Renewing Library Materials

Renew books - you can renew your books 3 times if no one else needs them.
