Summary
Atlantic School of Theology is seeking a part-time university musician to support the worship life of the school.

Location: Halifax, NS
Position Type: 1-year contract, part-time
Posting Date: July 25, 2025
Start Date: Sept 2, 2025, or as soon after as possible

Key Responsibilities:
• during the Fall and Winter terms: providing musical leadership within AST chapel services on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from approx. 12:00 noon- 1:00 pm
• during the Summer terms (mid-June to late July): providing musical leadership within AST chapel services on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from approx. 8:00-9:00 am
• technological support and advice to worship teams for hybrid (in-person and online) delivery of the chapel services named above
• planning and musical leadership of extra worship services and events (up to five per year), including Matriculation services, Orientation, and Convocation
• active participation in AST’s Worship and Chaplaincy Committee
• other occasional, reasonable duties, as assigned by the Academic Dean. Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Relevant university degree or equivalent
• Experience as a church musician

Preferred Skills:
• A team player with leadership abilities
• ability to support the educational needs of theological students in the chapel setting
• A commitment to ecumenism
• Strong keyboard skills
• The ability to learn and/or sight-read new music quickly
• The ability to lead congregational singing with energy and conviction
• The ability to teach new hymnody
• Familiarity with the liturgies of the three founding partners
• Comfortable delivering music in a hybrid work environment
• Basic knowledge of sound and streaming applications

This is a part-time, one-year contract position. The candidate will be based in Halifax, Nova Scotia

Salary: In line with RCCO guidelines
