Personal statement

A young professor was discouraged about some of his students and said to the President of the University, “You know, sir, you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.” The wise President responded: “Young man, it is not your job to make him drink. It’s your job to make him thirsty.” I think the President’s response is a good definition of teaching.
