Vision and Mission

Mission
AST serves Christ’s mission by shaping effective and faithful ordained and lay leaders and understanding among communities of faith.
Why Our Mission Matters Today
Rapid social change and increasing isolation define our modern world. We are in need of leaders who can bridge divides, stand for social justice, engage in community leadership, and champion ethical clarity. At AST, we believe that theological education is more than just a degree.
Our mission matters today because:
- Everything is centred on the love of God
At the heart of everything we do is the belief that God loves the world, and that individuals and communities can be transformed by that love. - We understand that leadership is evolving
We equip students to lead not just in pulpits, but in non-profits, healthcare, and advocacy. - We believe that dialogue is vital
Our ecumenical foundation teaches the art of listening and collaborating across differences. - Social cohesion is important to us
We foster environments where dialogue bridges divides, and students from different denominations or backgrounds feel equally at home. - Community development is a big part of AST
We view community development as the outward expression of our faith. We empower leaders to act as catalysts for sustainable growth, resilience, and the flourishing of all people across Atlantic Canada and beyond.
